dir=\"ltr\"><div dir=\"ltr\"><div dir=\"ltr\"><div data-from-addr=\"\"><p class=\"gmail-p5\">There are so many challenges that come into play from the OSA screening process to therapy. These include but are not limited to access, education, and awareness. That\u2019s why, here at SomnoMed, we\u2019re rolling up our sleeves in pursuit of a common, universal commitment: to bring more patients into more successful OSA treatment, regardless of therapy.\u00a0<\/p><p class=\"gmail-p5\">According to a <a title=\"https:\/\/protect-au.mimecast.com\/s\/5MUJCp818Rt1Yz8tJ6WST?domain=usa.philips.com\" contenteditable=\"false\" href=\"https:\/\/protect-au.mimecast.com\/s\/5MUJCp818Rt1Yz8tJ6WST?domain=usa.philips.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"gmail-s1\">recent global patient survey<\/span><\/a> conducted by Philips, 25% &#8211; 30% of individuals potentially suffering from OSA are afraid of taking a sleep test &#8211; as they believe that the treatment is worse than the condition itself &#8211; or would simply refuse to use a CPAP machine. That\u2019s why our Medical Initiative<sup>\u2122<\/sup> encompasses working equally with dentists and sleep physicians to help them treat their patients and address the ever-increasing burden of OSA.<\/p><p class=\"gmail-p4\"><b>How Does Our Medical Initiative<sup>\u2122<\/sup> Work?<span class=\"gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/p><p class=\"gmail-p5\">Collaborations between physicians, dentists, and DME companies using a patient-centric approach will enable and foster successful OSA treatment, regardless of therapy. That\u2019s why we help sleep physicians:<\/p><ul class=\"gmail-ul1\"><li class=\"gmail-li8\"><span class=\"gmail-s3\">To find a trusted sleep dentist they can work with in the long-term<\/span><\/li><li class=\"gmail-li8\"><span class=\"gmail-s3\">Address misconceptions about oral appliances<\/span><\/li><li class=\"gmail-li8\"><span class=\"gmail-s3\">Promote and conduct clinical research in oral appliances<\/span><\/li><li class=\"gmail-li8\"><span class=\"gmail-s3\">Position oral appliances as a first-line therapy for mild and moderate OSA, and for patients who refuse or give up on CPAP<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p class=\"gmail-p9\">As sleep medicine physician Kathy Wilson, MD states: \u201cThe gold standard is unique to each patient.
