How To Clean Your Oral Appliance: The DON’Ts<\/b><\/span><\/p>

If you\u2019re thinking of boiling your oral appliance to kill bacteria, DON\u2019T; this can actually soften and warp the shape of your oral appliance and make it feel uncomfortable to wear. Likewise, though bleach also destroys bacteria, it should never be used to clean your oral appliance.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>

If you\u2019re using a toothbrush to help clean your oral appliance, DON\u2019T use toothpaste. Most possess an abrasive, plaque-removing ingredient that can scratch your appliance.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>

Ultrasonic (US) or ultraviolet (UV) cleaners should not be used.\u00a0 These devices can cause embrittlement of the oral appliance acrylics.<\/span><\/p>

Cleaning Your Oral Appliance With SomTabs<\/b><\/span><\/p>

How To Use SomTabs<\/b><\/strong><\/span><\/p>

Step 1: Dissolving One Tablet
<\/strong><\/span>Dissolve a SomTabs tablet in sufficient amounts of warm water to cover the oral appliance in the travel case (the water should be approximately 35 degrees Celsius\/95 degrees Fahrenheit).\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>

WARNING:<\/span> Never use hot water (>45 degrees Celsius or >113 degrees Farenheit), as hot water damages your device and will invalidate the warranty.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>

Step 2:<\/span> Remove Strap For SomnoDent Avant – Start On The Right Hinge
<\/span><\/span>If you have a SomnoDent Avant, remove the strap first. Rotate the strap up until it\u2019s upright. Pull the right strap hole off the right hinge. Repeat these steps for the left hinge.<\/span><\/p>

Step 3: Slide The Strap
<\/span>Slide the SomnoDent Avant strap around until the strap clip is at the white end of the strap. Pull the strap out of the strap clip.<\/span><\/p>

Step 4: Place Device In A Fully Dissolved Solution
<\/span>Carefully place your SomnoDent device in the travel case. All parts must be completely immersed in the cleaning solution.<\/span><\/p>

Step 5: Wait For 15 Minutes
<\/span>Wait for 15 minutes as SomTabs cleans your device.<\/span><\/p>

Step 6: Rinse Strap
<\/span>Meanwhile, as you wait for the cleaning process, if you have a SomnoDent Avant, rinse the strap under cool, running water.<\/span><\/p>

Step 7: Wipe Strap
<\/span>Wipe the strap thoroughly dry and place it aside.<\/span><\/p>

Step 8: Brush Device
<\/span>After 15 minutes, remove the device from the travel case. Discard the SomTabs solution. Rinse and dry the travel case. Brush the device in running water to clean any hard-to-reach areas.<\/span><\/p>

WARNING:<\/span>\u00a0Do not use toothpaste, as it contains abrasives that may damage the device over time.<\/span><\/p>

Step 9: Dry Device
<\/span>Dry the device carefully, using a clean towel.<\/span><\/p>

Step 10: SomnoDent Flex, Edentulous, Classic or Herbst Advance
<\/span>If you have a SomnoDent Flex, Edentulous, Classic, or Herbst Advance device, clean the metal components with the small brush provided in the bottom of your travel case.<\/span><\/p>

Step 11: Fitting strap back for SomnoDent Avant
<\/span>For SomnoDent Avant, fit the strap back by holding the upper plate and press at the white end of the strap into the strap clip. Slide the strap around until the center is inside the strap clip.<\/span><\/p>

Step 12: Fitting The Strap On The Hinge
<\/span>Hold strap until it is upright. Press the right strap hole over the right hinge on the lower splint. Keep the strap upright and repeat for the left hinge.<\/span><\/p>

Step 13: Storage
<\/span>When not in use, the device should be stored as per your SomnoMed device instructions for use.<\/span><\/p>

<\/span>\u2022 Keep oral device out of direct sunlight<\/span><\/p>

\u2022 Do not use toothpaste to clean the device as it contains abrasives, and may damage the device.<\/span><\/p>

\u2022 Do not put SomTabs tablets in the mouth.<\/span><\/p>

\u2022 Do not swallow the cleaning solution or use it as a mouth rinse.<\/span><\/p>

\u2022 Do not use hot water to clean device as it will damage the device.<\/span><\/p>
