The Importance of AADSM<\/strong><\/p>

The American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM) was established in 1991, and at the time of this writing, acts as the only non-profit national professional society dedicated exclusively to the practice of dental sleep medicine. Dentists who are trained in dental sleep medicine use Oral Appliance Therapy (OAT) to treat sleep-disordered breathing, including snoring and Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA).\u00a0<\/p>

Approximately 54 million Americans suffer from Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), and if left untreated, OSA has been linked to some serious health problems, including but not limited to high blood pressure, congestive heart failure, stroke, diabetes, and depression. Oral Appliance Therapy (OAT) is an effective first-line therapy or CPAP alternative for those suffering from obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), and the AADSM helps to advance dentists\u2019 roles in the screening, evaluation, and treatment of sleep-disordered breathing.<\/p>

Celebrating 30 Years<\/strong><\/p>

Not only will this year\u2019s annual conference be the first in-person meeting since 2019, but\u00a0the AADSM will also simultaneously be celebrating 30 years since its inception and its\u00a030th Annual Meeting. This year\u2019s meeting will feature sessions tailored for interaction with other attendees, and will also include a ticketed gala on Saturday evening to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the AADSM.\u00a0<\/p>

The AADSM Annual Meeting is open to dentists, dental team members, physicians, scientists, and other health care professionals who treat or have an interest in treating patients with sleep-disordered breathing, with something to offer to everyone.
