The comfort of SomnoDent\u00ae<\/sup> appliances is due to our proprietary b-flex comfort liner, which cradles the teeth and holds the appliance in place while patients sleep.\u00a0<\/p>

With so many devices to choose from, how can you select the right one? Fortunately, we\u2019ve simplified the process. Let\u2019s take a look at the different oral devices SomnoMed\u00ae<\/sup> has to offer.\u00a0<\/u><\/u><\/p>

SomnoDent\u00ae<\/sup> Avant\u2122<\/sup><\/u><\/u><\/h4>

SomnoDent\u00ae<\/sup> Avant\u2122<\/sup> is our most comfortable appliance ever. The upper and lower splints are computer designed and manufactured by robots to the shape of patients\u2019 teeth, using a single piece of dental acrylic. This makes the splints stronger, so they last longer.<\/p>

Our soft b-flex Comfort Liner\u2122<\/sup> is added to this device to cradle and support the teeth, effectively cushioning the device against the teeth. With a b-flex Comfort Liner\u2122<\/sup>, the appliance feels more comfortable to wear and doesn\u2019t slip off the teeth while patients are sleeping.\u00a0<\/p>

If it\u2019s more comfortable, patients are more likely to wear it\u2026and therefore treat their sleep apnea more effectively.<\/p>

The innovative design of the SomnoDent\u00ae<\/sup> Avant\u2122<\/sup> allows for side-to-side jaw movement and gently closes the mouth, so patients breathe through their nose while asleep. This eliminates snoring in most people, as well as preventing dry mouth, which is a common complaint with other oral appliances (and CPAP).<\/p>

How the SomnoDent\u00ae<\/sup> Avant\u2122<\/sup> is Made<\/h4>

SomnoDent\u00ae<\/sup> Avant\u2122<\/sup> manufacture starts with a digital photo of a patient\u2019s teeth that gets sent to us by sleep dentists. With this photo, SomnoMed\u00ae<\/sup> will design an oral appliance specifically for each patient\u2019s teeth and jaw shape using Computer Assisted Design – or CAD – software tools.<\/u><\/u><\/u>\u00a0<\/u><\/p>

Once we\u2019ve created a patient\u2019s design, we start building their device using computer-controlled milling robots. The robot carves out the design from a single piece of dental plastic, as tests have shown that this method creates appliances that are stronger. We then add the soft b-flex Comfort Liner\u2122<\/sup> for comfort and polish the device, so there are no sharp edges and it is comfortable in a patient\u2019s mouth.<\/p>

After a patient\u2019s appliance is made, we test it using a 3D printed model of the patient\u2019s teeth. We check to make sure it fits: it doesn\u2019t fall off the patient\u2019s teeth, and it has been made exactly to the specifications provided by their sleep dentist. We then ship it to the patient\u2019s sleep dentist, normally within 14 days, so that patients can start effective treatment for sleep apnea.<\/p>
