The upper and lower splints are designed with the latest Computer Aided Design software and are milled using a single piece of pre-cured dental acrylic. The precuring process improves the flexural strength of the material by 18%.<\/p>

We add the soft b-flex Comfort Liner to cradle and support the teeth to minimize tooth movement. Our b-flex Comfort Liner feels more comfortable to wear and is more retentive. If it\u2019s more comfortable, your patient is more likely to wear it, and be better treated for their sleep apnoea.<\/p>

And the innovative design of the SomnoDent\u00ae<\/sup> Avant\u2122<\/sup> gently closes your patient’s mouth, so they breathe through their nose while asleep. How we make SomnoDent\u00ae<\/sup> Avant\u2122<\/sup>?<\/h1>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

SomnoDent\u00ae<\/sup> Avant\u2122<\/sup> manufacture starts with a digital photo of your patient’s teeth that is sent to us by the dentist. With this scan, SomnoMed\u00ae<\/sup> will design an oral appliance specifically for your patient’s teeth and jaw shape using Computer Assisted Design (CAD) software tools.<\/p>

Once we\u2019ve created the design, we start building your patient’s device using computer-controlled milling robots. The robot carves out your patient’s design from a single piece of dental acrylic \u2013 as tests have shown that this method creates appliances that are stronger. We then add the soft b-flex Comfort Liner for comfort and polish your patient’s device, so there are no sharp edges, and it is comfortable in your patient’s mouth.<\/p>

After your patient’s appliance is made, we test it using a 3D printed model. We check to make sure it fits; it doesn\u2019t fall off the teeth, and it has been made exactly to the specifications provided by the dentist. Like many people, l became aware that l was snoring during the night and feeling tired in the morning. This led me down the route of seeing my GP who felt l may have obstructive sleep apnoea and referred me to the hospital for further tests. There, l was given the Epworth Sleep Study questionnaire to complete which indicated l had daytime sleepiness but not severely. However further investigation was necessary and an overnight hospital stay was arranged where l had a sleep study conducted.
