The sensor-enabled, smart Rest Assure® device collects data throughout the night.
Patient docks their Rest Assure device in the Rest Assure® docking station after each night’s sleep.
Sensor data is transferred via the patient’s cellphone and the Rest Assure® patient app to Rest Assure® cloud service.
Validated algorithms interpret and transform the sensor data into usage and other sleep related parameters.
Data is displayed in the Rest Assure® patient app for patients to view. CPAP patient apps have been shown to increase patient compliance to OSA therapy.*
Usage and sleep parameters are available for the prescribing physician and yourself to review via the Rest Assure HCP portal.
After your patient has worn their Rest Assure device for a night, information about their sleep will be displayed in the Rest Assure HCP portal:
Usage time is the time the Rest Assure device was in your patient’s mouth during the night.
Surrogate AHI is a measure of the apneas and hypopneas experienced during the night by your patient.
Rest Assure monitors your patients sleep position during the night, as supine sleep can be associated with poorer outcomes with oral devices#. Rest Assure records the time spent in supine, prone and side sleeping positions.
Rest Assure monitors your patient’s sleep interruptions during the night, such as moving into an upright position, and removing Rest Assure from the mouth during the night.
Every night, a Rest Assure score measuring the 4 parameters above, is calculated. Similar patient engagement scores with CPAP apps have shown that they can drive compliance and positive sleep habits as patients look to improve their nightly scores*:

Globally, over 80% of patients diagnosed with OSA will receive CPAP as a first line treatment. 1
Market research with prescribers completed by SomnoMed indicated that the lack of overnight monitoring with oral appliances was a key reason for their CPAP preference. Rest Assure was developed to provide monitoring of usage and other sleep parameters for oral appliances, just like with CPAP.
SomnoMed’s Medical Initiative builds collaborative treatment pathways between dental sleep professionals and sleep physicians, helping both clinicians to treat OSA with Oral Appliance Therapy.
Individual patient data from Rest Assure enhances this collaboration by providing data on each patient.
Over time, the collection of hundreds of thousands of nights of Rest Assure patient data will help to answer questions such as:

Yes, but check with the patient that they are comfortable using an app and sharing their sleep data. Anatomically, Rest Assure will be suitable for most of your patients. A small percentage of patients with a heavy curve of spee, specific missing teeth or insufficient OVD may not be candidates for Rest Assure. Contact your SomnoMed support team if you have specific questions about a patient’s dentition and their suitability for Rest Assure.
The Rest Assure device (including the battery, circuit board and electronic components) and the docking station have been tested for safety and performance according to IEC medical device standards and EMC standards for electrical devices. The components are all enclosed within the dental acrylic for additional safety. Contact your SomnoMed support team for further information on the safety testing completed with Rest Assure.
The Rest Assure software was designed to be simple to download and intuitive to use, so most patients should be able to use it. SomnoMed provides a dedicated customer service centre for Rest Assure to help patients with app and docking station issues: https://somnomed.my.site.com/help/s/?language=en_US
